Co-sponsor Asian American Summit/Mayoral Forum – Oct 2

asian american mayoral forum

Our Asian American community has been increasing over the last decade both in numbers and in political participation.  We have elected several Asian Americans to local and state offices.  It shows the maturing of our community to run for office and to mobilize votes to WIN offices!

This November, the City of Houston will hold a very important election.  The Mayor, Controller and several Council seats will be open for the first time in six years.  It is important that we take advantage of this opportunity to elect those who we feel will best represent us.

In order to both educate candidates and to meet and hear from them, an Asian American Summit/Mayoral Forum and Candidates Meeting has been scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2009 at 6-9 pm at the American First National Bank, 12th Floor, 9999 Bellaire Blvd.

This is an educational event for the candidates and our community.  The first hour will be networking and meeting all candidates.  We are inviting everyone who is running in November.  The second hour will be presentation of critical issues facing our Houston Asian American community and recommendations on how best to address them.  The third hour will be hearing from the Mayoral candidates who will have the issues sent to them prior to the event so they can prepare responses.  There will be time for questions and remarks from the audience as well.  All four major mayoral candidates have confirmed they will be in attendance.
