Taiwan Bowling Relief Fundraiser – Oct 11

As many of you may know:

On August 9, 2009, Typhoon Morakot slammed into Taiwan with the equivalence of a category 2 hurricane. Morakot is the deadliest typhoon to impact Taiwan in recorded history. The typhoon dumped as much as 80 inches of rain triggering a mudslide burying up to 600 people in a mountain village of Pingtung in southern Taiwan, as well as causing catastrophic damage to other areas of the country.

The Houston Asian Jaycees aim to raise funds through a bowling competition to support emergency relief efforts in Taiwan.

Hosted by 300 Houston Bowling, teams of 4 people will battle it out to see who can reach 1200 points! Each team will have one warm up game, and then the competition will begin. The team with the score closest to 1200 will be crowned the “Bowling for Relief” Taiwan Relief Fund Champion.

There are 2 ways to play:

Corporate Sponsored [Download Packet]
Corporate sponsored teams will have a $100 registration fee due on Monday, October 5. Donation amounts will be tallied after the completion of the official game. All funds raised from strikes and spares must be turned in no later than Friday, October 16. Corporate donations are tax deductible.
Break down:

4-team members each with a $25 registration fee = $100

Each strike by team = $5

Each spare by team = $1
Each gutter ball by team = $.50
(Team donation must equal at least $100)

Team Fundraising [Download Packet]
Teams not corporate sponsored will have a $100 registration fee, plus a minimum of $100 in raised funds. All team registration fees will be due by Monday, October 5. All raised funds will be due on the day of the event at check-in.
Break down:
4-team members each with a $25 registration fee = $100.
4-team members each raise a minimum of $25 from family/friends/co-workers = $100.
Minimum total team financial contribution = $200

All teams will need to submit their 4-team member’s names, preferred names on the screen, and bowling shoe size on Monday, October 5.

Refreshments and bowling shoes will be included with your team registration.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the event for our meet at greet. Warm-up rounds will go from 1:00-1:30pm, with the official game immediately to follow. If your team arrives after the official game begins, you will not be able to participate.

After the official game is complete, all teams may bowl at their leisure up till 3:00pm, at which all lanes will be shut down. We apologize for any inconvenience, 300 Houston Bowling rules state that our event will end at 3:00pm, no matter what frame you may be in.

Prizes

  1. The team that brings in the most raised funds will be awarded Jaycee bowling shirts, sponsored by Pants on Design. In the case of a tie, the team with the highest score will win the prize.
  2. The most spirited team (best theme) will receive 4 tickets to AMC movie theaters, sponsored by Amirahart Paints, Prints, and Photography.
  3. All teams will receive four 4×6 team color prints, sponsored by Amirhart Paint, Prints, and Photography.
  4. The team and individual with the highest score will also receive prizes.

FAQs

Q: Do I have to pay $200 to participate in this event?
A: No, each team member is required to pay $25 for registration, and an additional $25 an additional $25 in donations. 4 People per team X $50 contributed = $200

Q: How do I raise $25, I don’t want to pay that myself.
A: Think of 5 friends/family/co-workers and ask them each for $5. Show them the event flyer, chapter web site, or Facebook to help them understand why you are asking.

Q: Do I have to have 4 people on a team?
A: Yes. For this event we require 4 people per team. If you are having problems find 1-3 others let us know, we can try and help. We will put the word out that you need 1-3 more.
